SSL Certificate Creation Wizard
With this wizard, you can create an SSL certificate and optionally a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for requesting a genuine SSL certificate from a Certification Authority. The SSL certificate can be used for client certificate authentication when connecting to an FTPS server like TurboFTP Server.
STEP 1: General Information
Certificate name
Input the name of the new certificate.
Output directory
Specify where the certificate and private key will be created by entering the folder path or clicking the browse button to select one.
Key length in bits
Choose one of the Key Length options (in bits) in the drop-down menu (1024, 2048, or 4096-bit keys). Using at least a 2048-bit RSA/DSA key is recommended for sufficient crypto strength.
Expiration date
Enter an Expiration date or click the button to specify one in the calendar. The date must be in the future.
Create certificate request
If selected, A certificate signing request (also CSR) will be created alongside the certificate and private key. You can then send the CSR to a certificate authority to apply for an SSL certificate.
Passphrase
It is recommended to use a strong passphrase to encrypt the private key. Otherwise, leave passphrase fields empty.
STEP 2: Certificate Subject Information
The following fields are all required.
Common name
Typically the name will be the domain name associated with the site.
Enter a valid Email address.
Unit
